Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has set a new world record in One Day Internationals (ODIs), becoming the first bowler in history to claim 131 wickets in just 65 matches.

Afridi broke the previous record held by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who had taken 128 wickets in the same number of games.

The record-breaking performance came during the first ODI against West Indies at the Brian Lara Stadium, where Pakistan successfully chased down a target of 281 runs, winning the match by 5 wickets and taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

On his ODI debut, Hasan Nawaz impressed with an unbeaten 63 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award. Key contributions also came from Mohammad Rizwan (53), Babar Azam (47), Hussain Talat (41), and Salman Ali Agha (23).

The second ODI will be played on Sunday, followed by the final match of the series on Tuesday, both at the Brian Lara Stadium.
